Mister Marketeer’s solution team:

Summary

We have all heard about SEO, a low-cost, long-term game that works forever. Therefore, an easy consideration is to invest in SEO by allocating a monthly budget. Many AI tools can allow you to do your thing independently and remain in complete control. Hence, a case like this and many others we often see should not happen. Yet it does. Read on as we describe this unique marketplace problem that creates opportunities for Mister Marketeer to exist and provide incredible value to our clients.

Situation

The marketing manager of an interior design firm initially hired an SEO agency but contacted us after noticing a continuous decline in their SEO performance. Despite repeated attempts to communicate with the SEO agency, the clients were in the dark without explanations or updates.

We performed a thorough SEO audit and met with the marketing manager to understand the situation thoroughly and work towards resolving the issues.

The Issue: A deceptive selling process with a limited amount of work done

Diagnosis

The scope of work was a four-liner statement that described SEQ (search engine query) optimisation but did not identify the target as the website.

  • Work was indeed done well by the agency, but the target was Google My Business listing.
  • While the term of service was one year, the work was done only during the first few months.

Reports were not in the scope of work, i.e. the buyer cannot claim to ask for:

  • What was done?
  • When was it done?
  • What was the basis of doing those said activities?
  • And therefore, what were the results?

The scope did not warrant service quality.

We detected that Google Analytics and Google Search Console were created, but the clients were not given access, resulting in total data loss and investment.

The typical market price for such services in Singapore is between $900 and $1,500 monthly.

  • The offer was $600 monthly, totalling $7,200 for the contract period.
  • The client was issued four invoices, each totalling $1,800 and was paid in the first four months.

Supply follows demand, and unscrupulous players enter and profit when the buyers are not savvy, and this is what happened here. Deceptive techniques like these undermine the excellent work done by many other sellers. We believe that asking for transparency from your seller might be the best way for you to learn and purchase services more effectively.

Solution

We instantly set up a measurement system for the client and were given access to validate our audit. This allowed us to plan a fast SEO recovery path. Some of these steps were taken at an incredible speed:

We created backlinks for pages that were in good shape.

A well-planned, customised SEO strategy for this client's website structure was rolled out.
